Leo Acosta CD discography
$6.39 HAVANA 3 A.M. is one of Perez Prado's greatest collections.
Recorded in Hollywood, California in 1956. Despite the traces of other sonic spices, mambo is the overriding flavor here. Recorded in 1956 as Perez Prado was at the height of his fame, HAVANA 3 A.M. bears witness to the talent that catapulted Prado to the top. Other Prado originals include "The Freeway Mambo," which foreshadows the bandleader's later experiments with mambo-rock, and "Mosaico Cubano," which presages Prado's ambitious tone poem suites of later years. Teamed with an excellent band that includes Maynard Ferguson, Prado delivers the goods his fans had come to expect.
Many Latin favorites, such as "Peanut Vendor" and "Besame Mucho," as well as a number of Prado originals including "La Farano," are featured here. Includes liner notes by Domingo G.
