Jackie Leven Biography
Scottish singer/songwriter Jackie Leven began his recording career with the 1971 album CONTROL, which he made under the name John St. Field. For the next several years, he lived the life of a wanderer, but in the late `70s he formed Doll By Doll, a cult favorite that mixed the old (folk-rock, art rock) and the new (punk, new wave). In 1984 a violent attack rendered Leven unable to sing for an extended period, and subsequent drug problems delayed the start of his solo career for a decade. He finally released his solo debut in 1994; making up for lost time, Leven began releasing new material at a feverishly prolific rate.
