Richard Lloyd Biography
Richard Lloyd knocked the world out in the 1970s with his transcendent guitar technique in the band Television, and when the band dissolved in '79, he released a handful of albums that further cemented his reputation as a brilliant instrumentalist and writer. Drug problems slowed down his productivity for a while, but by the mid-`80s Lloyd was clean and sober. His elegiac playing is all over Matthew Sweet's early-'90s work; he has also collaborated with John Doe, Chris Butler, and others; and the members of Television still occasionally reunite for shows and recordings. The `00s saw him learning and performing the works of Jimi Hendrix, with plans for releasing the material in album form.
