 Lene Lovich Biography
By the time she was a teenager, the half-Yugoslavian, American-and-English-bred Lovich began pursuing the life of an avant-garde artist. After dabbling in everything from go-go dancing to collaborating with disco star Cerrone, Lovich was signed to punk label Stiff and released the hit single, "Lucky Number," in 1979. Her offbeat and quirky new wave helped to define the genre in its formative days. After a few records for Stiff in the early '80s, Lovich mostly retreated into everything from scoring operas to working fervently with PETA, but has emerged as recently as 2005 with a new album, SHADOWS AND DUST. And moreover, her influence on courageously creative females in alternative music (from Karen O. to Gwen Stefani) has been of huge significance.
