 Mc5 Biography
The Rolling Stones toyed with revolution in rock, as on "Street Fighting Man," but Detroit's MC5 lived it. They were involved with the White Panther party in the late 1960s/early '70s, and the quintet became legendary for their high-energy performances and turbo-charged, ear-shattering hard rock. One of punk rock's godfathers, they were faster, louder, and more furious than any other band of the era except for their hometown brethren the Stooges, and inspired subsequent legions of garage-rockers to "kick out the jams."
