 Mahavishnu Orchestra Biography
After graduating from the Miles Davis school of jazz-rock, British guitarist John McLaughlin formed the pioneering fusion group Mahavishnu Orchestra, which laid much of the groundwork for jazz-rockers to come. The blazing, electric energy of McLaughlin, keyboardist Jan Hammer, and drummer Billy Cobham brought jazz improv to a rock context.
