The original Beginner's Guide To Salsa released in July 2003 has gone on to become one of the biggest selling salsa CDs in the UK ever, compilation or otherwise. Instead, all of the songs, from José "El Canario" Alberto's "Usted No Me Conoco" to Africando's "Grog Moin" to the Soneros del Barrio's "Canuto" to Orlando Watussi's "Son Caleno" are bright and warm, full of the percussion, horn fills, and super-clean vocals that define contemporary salsa, and in terms of a sampler of the genre, this one performs very well. In 2006, Lubi Jovanovic returns to deliver the Beginner's Guide To Salsa Volume 2. Once again, it does what it says on the packet - introduces people to salsa. This time he stayed within the past two decades of salsa, both from older artists like Jimmy Bosch and Los Titanes, as well as newer ones like Grupo X. After the success of British label Nascente's 2003 album Beginner's Guide to Salsa, which focused on the classics of the genre, compiler and DJ Lubi Jovanovic decided to start gathering tracks for a second edition. This time, the compiler has dug a little deeper so that it will appeal to an even wider community of buyers.
