Sure it's heavy, sure there's lots of metallic guitar crunches, and sure enough they're pretty angry, but the Shai Hulud aren't a bunch of muscleheads. Profound Hatred of Man. issued by Revelation. It doesn't even matter that there are only three songs on A Profound Hatred of Man, it's good enough to influence another page in the maturity of hardcore. This is definitely a sign of better things to come. Instead, there's more of a developed, complex sound to the point where each song will fly into a hundred different directions before it ends; it's more "grown up" in comparison to all the hard guy mentality that's infiltrated the hardcore scene. Wow, this is intense! assembles together the bands' first single and album of the same title. Since that time, this Florida hardcore unit has broken so many barriers inside and outside the genre its almost difficult to classify them. ~ Mike DaRonco
