It isn't especially groundbreaking, but Fast Forward more than lives up to its title. Beneath the surface chaos, the album has a determined rhythmic drive and a sustained intensity that demonstrates what a tight, skilled ensemble Defleshed is. Fast Forward finds Defleshed departing from its previously dominant Florida death-metal influence (think Morbid Angel or Deicide) and returning to its roots, embracing the sounds of both its native Sweden (à la early Entombed) and genre forefathers Slayer.
