And so it goes for the rest of the disc: always surprising, always rewarding. Isotope 217 has been described as "jazz without chops," and while it's true that there's little of the traditional emphasis on acrobatic performance, "jazz without borders" is a more apt description. Collapsing into chaos, the suite then drops into a drone section that sounds like a detuned digeridoo in the engine room of a dirigible. UTONIAN AUTOMATIC evokes early fusion, but points it in a refreshing direction. Brown.
