Me First & The Gimme Gimmes Biography
Since as early as the Ramones, punk rock has maintained both a healthy sense of humor and a penchant for cover songs. No band has taken those two concepts further than California punk supergroup Me First & the Gimme Gimmes. Consisting of members of NoFX, Swingin' Utters, Foo Fighters, and Lagwagon, Me First & the Gimme Gimmes put a punk-rock twist on all manner of decidedly un-punk pop hits. With each album maintaining a genre theme, the band has taken on show tunes, R&B songs, radio hits of the 1960s and '70s, and country music. The band also released a Bar Mitzvah-themed album in 2004 recorded live at an actual Bar Mitzvah.
