| Artist appears on Five Iron Frenzy Proof That The Youth Are Revolting CD (1999)
Micah Ortega music CDs
$10.95 By not taking an excessively preachy road, FIF is crafty and subtle in the way it delivers its message. On the surface, that might seem common enough, except that FIF is a Christian band. Walking more in the tradition of bands like They Might Be Giants, the members of FIF are serious about music without taking themselves too seriously.
PROOF THAT THE YOUTH ARE REVOLTING is testament to the fun-loving chaos of the live shows of FIF. Born in Denver, Colorado from the ashes of an industrial-thrash outfit, Five Iron Frenzy blends punk, ska, and metal, while maintaining a strong sense of melody and a great use of vocal harmonies. "Suckerpunch" borrows some brass stylings from the Mighty Mighty Bosstones with much success. The group's infectious sense of humor is a large part of its appeal. The disc opens with a jab at fellow Christian rockers Stryper that segues into a stab at '80s-metal refugees Europe.

Micah Ortega CD discography
$10.95 Like every other ska-punk band, Five Iron Frenzy doesn't have much subtlety, whether it's in their music or their humor. Our Newest Album Ever!, the group's second album, is awash with predictable, heavy-handed skanking riffs and silly, frat-boy jokes.
