The signature harmonica player from their first album parted ways with the band in early 1999. It's been nearly seven years since Mind's I broke upon the regional music scene with its eclectic blend of jazzy acoustic-rooted rock that drew comparisons to the likes of the Dave Matthews Band, Dire Straits, and Blues Traveler. The original drummer was replaced by the animated Jason Anthony, who remains with the band today. Showcase appearances in the Philadelphia and Millennium Music Conferences led bigger and better gigs, as well as opportunities to travel beyond the boundaries of their home state. Founding members Tom Panei (vocals, acoustic guitar), Scott Herbst (bass, vocals), and Greg Muiter (vocals and electric guitar), with Anthony, released “Fearless of Ever” in 1999. In the years following "Where The Secret Lies,” the band grew and matured. Like its predecessor, “Fearless” sold through its initial pressing in a matter of weeks. From headlining the Atlantic City Beach Festival to performing in the Independence Day Parade in Chicago, Mind's I has won over thousands of fans across the Northeast and beyond through their infectiously entertaining performances and their disarming working-class charm. 1998's "Where The Secret Lies" (released by the now defunct AFM Records, Inc.) was an indie success story - selling out of its first pressing in just months, while enjoying spins on several radio stations in Pittsburgh (91.3 FM WYEP, The X at 105.9 FM, and 102.5 FM WDVE) as well as elsewhere in the region. The EP, containing unreleased songs from the first album's sessions, as well as one new song (“In The Dark” - a track also included in the independent film “The Legend of Team C”) was again a favorite for several local radio stations.
