 Thurston Moore Biography
As one of the founding members of Sonic Youth, Thurston Moore is an alternative rock icon. However, Moore's contributions to underground music and culture extend well beyond the output of that band. Moore is a tireless champion of the DIY community and has released numerous recordings on his Ecstatic Peace label. Although he's only released a handful of proper solo albums under his own name, he has participated in a slew of collaborations with avant-garde luminaries. Among his scads of other projects, Moore was also a member of one-off punk supergroup the Dim Stars (with punk poet Richard Hell), played guitar in one of GG Allin's many backing bands, and in 2007 collaborated with improviser Andrew MacGregor as Bark Haze.
