 Morphine Biography
Picture down-tempo, mysterious music played in a dimly lit, smoke-filled nightclub at 2 A.M., and you probably won't be far off from the moody sounds of Artist. A stripped-down trio featuring drums, sax, and a two-string bass played with a slide, Artist was one of rock's most popular underground outfits until leader Mark Sandman's untimely death in 1999.
