GUNNAR MOSSBLADBIO GUNNAR MOSSBLAD is active as a saxophonist, composer/arranger, and educator in both the European classical and American jazz idioms. When Gunnar is not performing or teaching he composes music for a wide variety of musical situations. He also serves as the musical director for the David Liebman Big Band. Gunnar travels throughout the world performing concerts and clinics. As the founder of Visions, a contemporary jazz quintet, and more recently, The Manhattan Saxophone Ensemble, Gunnar has gained an outstanding reputation as a performer, composer, and improviser. He is a regular contributor to Jazz Player magazine, the Saxophone Journal, and his pedagogical materials are published by Houston Publishing, Le Moine Music, and FJH Music companies. , and many others. His performing credits include collaborations with numerous jazz and classical artists including David Liebman, Marv Stamm, Royce Campbell, John D'earth, Hod O'brien, Woody Herman, Mel Torme, John Coates, Jr. He is currently the Director of Jazz Studies at the University of Toledo. He earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz Studies and a Master of Music degree in Saxophone Performance from the University of North Texas. To date he has composed over 75 original jazz compositions in addition to numerous classical pieces and arrangements for various solo, chamber, and large ensembles.
