 Mother Hips Biography
The members of rock quartet the Mother Hips met as students at California State University, Chico. The band's brand of bluesy, country-influenced pop-rock gained a following in Northern California, and their debut, BACK TO THE GROTTO, appeared in 1996 and was later re-released by American Recordings, which also issued PART-TIMER GOES FULL ('95) and SHOOTOUT ('96). Changes ensued when American Recordings folded, and the band experimented with changes in direction, including deeper forays into country (LATER DAYS) and pop (GREEN HILLS OF EARTH). The Mother Hips also weathered line-up changes, including the departure of singer/guitarist Greg Loiacono. After a hiatus, a new incarnation returned with the full-length KISS THE CRYSTAL FLAKE in 2007.
