 Nazareth Biography
Although they were the most celebrated Scottish hard-rock band of the 1970s, Artist's enduring legacy is the heart-wrenching "Love Hurts," a Felice and Boudleaux Bryant number originally written for the Everly Brothers, covered by others, but given the definitive power-ballad treatment by the band. The same album yielded the hit rocker "Hair of the Dog" (later covered famously by Guns 'N' Roses), which more accurately captures the hard-boogie aesthetic that dominated their albums. Although the line-up of the group changed regularly through the decades, lead singer Dan McCafferty has kept some version of Artist actively touring and recording continuously since 1968.
