A lo-fi auteur heavily influenced by early folk and country, Will Oldham used several variations on the Palace name (and his own) to present his twisted, poetic tales of the American underbelly. His cracked tenor and backporch arrangements paint a picture of a nightmare Appalachia as seen through a post-modern, indie-rock filter.
