Papa Latty is one of the best known saxophonists in modern reggae jazz, a realist and a multi-instrumentalist of repute. His debut album titled \'Africa\'s problem\' , exposes the ills in contemporary African society. His 17- piece band exhibits a cool relaxed sound that blends a high level of skill and musical training with an intimate approach to jazz improvisation. Without completing his LL.B, he returned to Nigeria in January 1986 and has since been studying and performing with his Jah-Love Afro-Reggae Band. He spent his early life in England studying at the famous Horlborn Law Tutors and other private institutions. His work emphasizes feelings and attitudes and serves to develop a shared philosophy of Love and Justice. He is a Libra, born in Nigeria on the 25th of September 1958. For him the Saxophone serves has the lead melodic voice. Papa Latty is open to new ideas and influences and with the introduction of Afro-reggae style helped to fuse reggae into jazz with the afro touch of African percussions. Papa Latty performs with various instruments, but loves the jazzy creations of the saxophone. Being the leading exponent and originator of afro-reggae jazz, his jazz ensemble features some of the finest performers in the trade. He had earlier acquired a Diploma in Law and a Certificate in Music from the University of Lagos. ,PAPA LATTY IS A MASTER\'S DEGREE HOLDER ( M.A.) IN HISTORY AND STRATEGIC STUDIES ,FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF lAGOS ,AKOKA ,LAGOS , He ALSO has a BA (HONS) IN History / International Studies at the Lagos State University, Ojo. Having been greatly influenced by the late Bob Marley and Fela, the Reggae and Afrobeat Legends respectively, he emerged with his own unique blend of afro-reggae rhythm, which is really a fusion of the pulsating afro beat and root reggae.
