Hood Jazz Festival later in the year. PDXV went on to play the Portland Jazz Festival, the Cathedral Park Jazz Festival, & the Mt. The material was recorded early in 2007 at a jazz club in Portland, OR. PDXV Vol. 2 is the second live recording for this Portland-based Jazz Quintet.

Personnel are: Dick Titterington - trumpet, Rob Davis - sax, Greg Goebel - piano, Dave Captein - bass, & Todd Strait - drums. That's the material PDXV plays. It really is, as they say, "more than the sum of its parts". Although they played only one rehearsal and one 50 minute set, they all realized there was something special about the sound of this group. 5 individuals contributing outstanding skill talent and artistry, to jointly craft each masterpiece as a single entity. More about the band:The band came together originally to be a part of a series of concerts at Portland State University in the fall of 2005. The material they have been playing is representational of jazz standards written by jazz musicians (as opposed to the writing of the Tin Pan Alley composers). PDXV is a new band of top jazz musicians in Portland, OR. What about those sides of Joe Henderson, Kenny Dorham, LeeMorgan, and the myriad of other great small jazz ensemble recordings of the mid to late 20th century that many jazz instrumentalists listened to until the stylus wore through the vinyl? 14, 2006. PDXV has been said to be fresh and innovative, yet it sounds like the band has been playing together for years. Seems like there's been somewhat of a shift in recent history more toward the great vocal standards, which are indeed well worth playing, but not exactly the reason they took up playing jazz on their respective instruments. PDXV Vol. 1 is the band's first release; a live recording of this great jazz quintet performing a concert at The Old Church Nov.
