 Art Pepper Biography
Art Pepper's distinctive tone and style on the alto saxophone--warm, passionate, and rhythmically incisive--made him one of the premier players of the post-Bird generation, despite a well-publicized drug addiction. Pepper's classic sides from the '50s are equalled by his triumphant return to form in the late '70s, when he became a symbol of triumph over adversity, playing with furious eloquence and a searingly emotional tone in quite diverse contexts.
