 Robert Pollard Biography
For most of his storied career Robert Pollard was the frontman, principal songwriter, and heartbeat of the gloriously drunken, low-fi-cum-epic indie rock band Guided By Voices. He released his first solo album several years before GBV came to an end, yet took barely a pause following the band's final show in 2005 before rekindling his solo career. Similar to his work ethic in GBV, Pollard has been dizzyingly prolific as a solo artist, releasing numerous LPs, EPs, singles, and collaborative efforts (often with former members of GBV). Though Uncle Bob's solo work is perhaps a bit more varied, it remains rooted in big hooks, clever wordplay, and an irreverent DIY approach.
