Psychic Tv Biography
In the early 1980s, from the pulsing remains of the British proto-industrial group Throbbing Gristle rose the collective known as Artist (and several other aka's), led by the frightening and nimble mind of Genesis P-Orridge. Influenced by provocateurs like William S. Burroughs and Guy Debord, P-Orridge lives to provide spectacle in all his art. He incorporates stunning, often shocking visual images in his live performances, and concocts music and video that mesh noise, acid rhythms, provocative lyrics, and surprisingly infectious melodies. Artist has at times included or collaborated with scores of big names in the industrial and experimental genres, including Larry Thrasher and the Hafler Trio's Andrew M. McKenzie, and have operated on an almost uninterrupted schedule through two decades and counting.
