In contrast to the Stones' gritty, blues-drenched rock, Jagger's solo work has always been unabashedly pop, and that tendency is evident on VERY BEST. Mick Jagger never achieved much commercial success with his solo material (certainly nothing that touched the hem of his work with the Rolling Stones), but across four solo albums and a number of singles and outtakes he managed to put together a respectable body of work. From the disco-inflected "Just Another Night" to the bouncy call-to-arms "Let's Work" to his duet with David Bowie on "Dancing In the Streets," Jagger delivers polished products that are as edible as candy.
