 Jerry Reed Biography
One of Nashville's best finger-style guitarists, Jerry Reed would go on to become an all around entertainer after a start in the 1950s as a rockabilly artist. He moved to Tennessee in the early-1960s, quickly catching the eye of Chet Atkins. He first tasted success as a songwriter when Elvis Presley, in the midst of the 1968 comeback, recorded his "U.S. Male" and "Guitar Man." Meanwhile, his instrumental country records would earn him acclaim from his fellow C&W performers, as well as a 1970 Grammy Award. Oddly, Reed had his greatest popular success with novelty hits, reaching the top ten with "When You're Hot, You're Hot" and "Amos Moses." Ever the ham, Reed was a regular on the silver screen, usually portraying the consummate "good ol' boy."
