Supergroup Artist (founded by Chick Corea and featuring, among others, Stanley Clarke) was one of the most successful acts of the '70s fusion scene. For sheer technical mastery, this band of virtuosos rivaled any group on the planet. With dazzling facility, Artist brought jazz structures and improvisation into an electric rock context, ultimately falling closer to sophisticated prog-rock than anything else.
