| Artist appears on Happy Mondays Pills 'N' Thrills And Bellyaches CD (1990)
Rowetta albums
$9.85 From the opening bars of this near-masterpiece, the Madchester generation was defined, celebrated, and perhaps laid to rest. Combining the best elements of their earlier releases--stolen riffs, howling in a whisper, being generally rude and obnoxious yet somehow entirely endearing, the Happy Mondays created the ultimate sex, drugs, and rock & roll package.
With the acoustic strumming of the LaBelle rip-off "Kinky Afro," PILLS 'N' THRILLS' scene is set. There's the song for Donovan Leitch (complete with Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel's most famous lyric inserted for good measure), and "Bob's Your Uncle," the track for the ladies, where a foursome is conducted on Ecstasy. From here all hell breaks loose. In "God's Cop," Ryder pontificates about the ease of drug procurement, from his position as a rock star with a mobile phone.

| Artist appears on Happy Mondays Double Easy: The U.S. Singles CD (1993)
Rowetta CD discography
$13.39 Without the pretensions of other bands in the Manchester scene, the Happy Mondays made fantastic dance records (while insulting and offending anyone and everyone) and then imploded.
Shaun Ryder experienced one of the most public falls from grace--the result of a long battle with drug addiction--that a British pop star has suffered in recent memory, and he put it all into his songs. They represented all that was gritty and dirty about a scene that was essentially about dancing--for many hours--while on drugs. One of the most influential bands to emerge from the late '80s Manchester scene, the Mondays were a complete contradiction in that they weren't jolly and flowery at all. In 1993, Elektra released this compilation in a final attempt to market the defunct Happy Mondays.

Rowetta music CDs
$12.95 By the time this album was recorded and released in '92, the Happy Mondays had visibly unraveled. Travelling to Barbados to record with Tina Weymouth and Chris Frantz, the band--Ryder in particular--was spiraling into a pit of drug addiction.
