Shankhini the MC has been compared to California 'M' MC's Mystic, Medusa, Michael Franti . 2004 started with Shankhini being the 'Featured MC' on Nelly Furtado's 'Powerless' Saukrates Remix, which has enjoyed major play on international urban radio rotation. Her path as a free-styling MC began four years ago in Van city, chosen by audience members & piers, delivered on stage by Humpty Hump & flowing on top of the Digital Underground!! In June of 2003 she was chosen to compete in the freestyle battle on Much Music's 'Much on Demand' & she won in the live international broadcast! Her crafts are many but her mission always one - to connect art & spirit to people & communities. This 2004 set features 13 cuts, including "Color Box," "End The Silence," and "Amazon Song."
Shankhini, an Amazon MC, was born into an award winning family of artists & has been around the art of creating all her life. Previously heard alongside Nelly Furtado and Digital Underground, some have described this Amazonian rapper as the hip-hop Frank Zappa.
