 Soulfly Biography
International metal heavyweight Soulfly was formed by Brazilian guitarist/songwriter Max Cavalera after he left Sepultura in 1996. Cavalera has remained the only constant throughout the band's tenure, as he seeks new sounds for each album. DARK AGES, for example, had the band traveling to five different countries--Serbia, Turkey, Russia, France, and the U.S.--to record. Despite the international influences, and a late-career conversion to Christianity, Cavalera sticks close to his thrash roots, delivering all the fire and fury of the nu metal that his previous band helped to invent. Far from what you'd expect from a "world music" outfit, Soulfly proves that anger is a global phenomenon.
