 Rick Springfield Biography
After leading the group Zoot, Australian pop-rocker Rick Springfield started a solo career in the early 1970s. But because of label troubles, he forsook music for acting. His visibility as a regular on the popular soap opera GENERAL HOSPITAL enabled him to relaunch his musical career in the early '80s. He scored a number of big hits over the next few years, and also began appearing in films. By the late '80s, when the hits stopped coming, he concentrated on acting again, but after about a decade he returned to performing and recording, much to the delight of those who'd followed his career since the days of his breakout '81 smash "Jessie's Girl."
