Dakota Staton CD discography Artist's deep, husky voice and dynamic, swinging delivery made an immediate impact on the jazz community when she arrived in New York in the mid 1950s. While her initially rising star never provided her with the fame her talent deserved, she continued to record and perform to the delight of audiences in the U.S. and Europe until her death in 2007.
