| Truth Doesn't Matter CD (2006)
$12.29 From the Swell Maps and Jacobites to his own recent solo work, Nikki Sudden has never made a less than great record. His long and woefully undervalued career places him in the pantheon of gifted British oddballs like Marc Bolan ...

| Red Brocade CD (1999)
$14.15 Red Brocade feels more like a Jacobites recording than one of his wonderfully shambolic slash-and-burn rock offerings (evidence is in the tracks; Dave Kusworth, Sudden's long-suffering partner in Jacobites plays some guitar here). Not surprisingly, the piano plays a big ...

| Treasure Island CD (2004)

| Kiss You Kidnapped Charabanc / Live In Augsburg CDs (2002)
$17.35 This extraordinary collaboration between former Swell Maps guitarist/vocalist Nikki Sudden and Birthday Party/Crime & the City Solution guitarist/vocalist Rowland Howard comes highly recommended to those following the post-punk axis that spawned Nick Cave, These Immortal Souls, and the Wreckery. The ...

| Groove/Crown Of Thorns CDs (2002)
$17.35 Though Nikki Sudden's liner notes claim that "half of the rhythm section lost all of their enthusiasm" during the making of Groove, that laziness is nowhere evident in the final product. A big, swaggering, barnburner of a record, Groove pits ...

$12.49 The run of British band the Jacobites has been a haphazard, shambolic one that has produced some of the finest -- and most ignored -- music recorded during the 1980s. Dave Kusworth and Nikki Sudden reunited in the 1990s, and ...

 Nikki Sudden Biography
As one half of the creative force behind the Swell Maps, Nikki Sudden was an important figure in England's post-punk movement of the late '70s/early '80s. After the dissolution of the band, Sudden would go on to record as a solo artist and as the frontman of the Jacobites. Where the Swell Maps blended a jangly D.I.Y. primitivism with noisy gestures to the avant-garde, Sudden's solo work indulged his love of the Rolling Stones, T. Rex, and other swaggering rock icons. His music--by turns tough and tender--made fans out of, among others, Evan Dando, Sonic Youth, Jeff Tweedy, and R.E.M. Sudden died in his sleep in 2006 at the age of 49, less than a decade after his brother Epic Soundtracks took his own life.
