Sunn O Biography
Creating deep, low-end pulses and harsh dronescapes, Sunn O))) are at the fore of the drone doom genre, which combines elements of experimental and noise music with doom metal's black-cloaked imagery and aesthetic. Formed by doom metal godheads Stephen O'Malley and Greg Anderson in the early 2000s, Sunn O))) have managed to garner a diverse amount of press and fans, thanks primarily to the duo's utterly unique approach. From the perspective of pure sonics, Sunn O))) is much more an experimental sound project than a typical metal band; yet O'Malley and Anderson remain important figures in the metal community via their various side projects, many of which are on O'Malley's Southern Lord label.
