The Queen of the '60s Stax soul scene, Carla Thomas is best known for her solo hits like "Baby" and "Gee Whiz" as well as her work with her father, Rufus Thomas, on such tunes as 1959's "Cause I Love You" (the first hit for Stax's original incarnation as Satellite Records). She was a prolific hitmaker throughout the '60s, and her career was further distinguished by the KING & QUEEN duet album with Otis Redding, featuring the classic "Tramp."
