 Johnny Thunders Biography
Punk icon Johnny Thunders was a member of the New York Dolls and the Heartbreakers, and was also a long-running solo artist prior to his overdose in 1991. Thunders was one of the original New York City punks who created the style and sound in the mid '70s. Although Thunders was an excellent songwriter capable of both sneering rock anthems and tender ballads, he is remembered as much for a notorious addiction to heroin as he is for his art. Years after his death, Thunders remains a legendary symbol of the rock-&-roll lifestyle, for better or for worse.
