$15.95 A resurgence of this illness in March 2006 has left Randy housebound for much of the time, but has also ultimately led to his opportunity to pursue a career of art and music full time. Randy suffers from a chronic form of Morbus Menieres, a debilitating inner ear disease. Like Randy's first release "Rough Cuts", "Inner Journey" was also recorded in desperation while "falling down sick" during Randy's recent time of illness and captivity. But the artist, composer, musician, poet, hybridizer, etc., has plenty of pursuits to keep him busy at home in Spring City, Tenn. Inner Journey21 Tracks of Pure, One-Track, One-Take Recordings of Improvisational Free-Form Acoustic Jazz on Guitar. A prodigious work of soothing dissonance - inspired in part by the works of Charles Ives and Arnold Schoenberg."Inner Journey" displays Randy's virtuosity with acoustic guitar - something he never thought he’d be known for, since his first love was a 1971 Telecaster he named "Jill". The music IS a core component of who Randy Thurman is, but it's not even half of the story. After all, there are nine muses. The etc. is a place-keeper in Thurmans resume. "Randy Thurman missed his New York gallery debut. The Knoxville News Sentinel calls Randy Thurman a "Tennessee Renaissance Man" in their January 28, 2007 article by Doug Mason, heralding Randy's inclusion in the international fine art juried exhibition "The Next Tortured Genius" at Monkdogz Urban Art in Chelsea NYC. All twenty-two tracks, untitled except by number, were recorded one-take, one-track, over a two day period in the artists makeshift recording studio/home office.This album debuted January 6th 2007 along with Randy's abstract artwork at Monkdogz Urban Art Gallery, in Chelsea NYC, where it played opening night and was included as part of the exhibit "Day After Tomorrow: The Next Tortured Genius".Randy Thurman is not just another jazz musician, or even just another guitarist, improvisationalist, or composer/singer/songwriter.
