He could send Scott Weiland and James Hetfield running back to their growling coach, while his lyrics explore youthful ennui with uncommon maturity.
"Solitude" moves from a spacey, angelic intro to a sinister vocal trade-off, while "Touch, Peel And Stand" juxtaposes attention-grabbing off-time accents with a slow, languorous chorus. Judging from the band's self-titled debut, the deep-voiced 18 year-old has apparently been brooding for a lot longer than he's been shaving. Days Of The New frontman Travis Meeks is probably pretty sick of being told how much older he sounds on tape. Produced by Scott Litt (R.E.M), the sonic foundation of DAYS OF THE NEW is made up of acoustic guitars, close, double-tracked vocal harmonies, and a straightforward, powerful rhythm section.

The band's instrumental approach depends on massed acoustic guitars overlaid with metallic electric riffs, close, double-tracked and surprisingly pretty vocal harmonies, and a straightforward rhythm section pounding out a monster groove. Principally recorded at Cherokee Studios, Los Angeles, California.
If this music sounds familiar, it should. Three of the musicians here were formerly members of post-grunge kings Days Of The New and here, joined by new lead singer Hugo Ferreira, they've basically recreated the Days' sound.
Ferreira has a low baritone that mostly recalls Jim Morrison in full Lizard King roar, but he also has a lower register growl that recalls Scott Weiland or James Hetfield.
