Recording information: The Distillery, Costa Mesa, CA (06/25/2006-06/29/2006) White's tunes succeed with a quality that is at once epically powerful yet raw and minimal; melancholy yet triumphant, occasionally recalling a less bubblegum version of the Runaways at their best. On her second proper full-length release, SPACE AND TIME (2007), White, who is once again ably backed by her Red Orchestra, plays tough, catchy rock tunes that look much more to glam rock and the thick fuzzy haze of the Spacemen 3 and the Jesus & Mary Chain than to the more common influences of '60s psych and R&B. Miss Alex White is the darling of Chicago's unfairly overlooked but still smoking hot garage-punk scene.
