JOSH GROBAN CD discography This dual-disc release should dispel any doubts about Josh Groban's enormous appeal. LIVE AT THE GREEK documents the young singer's final stop of his 2004 tour at the historic Los Angeles venue, and demonstrates why he's earned the ear-splitting screams of adoring fans. Groban is a charismatic performer who wraps a powerful baritone voice in boyish charm, and shows keen instincts in selecting material that's ideally suited to his talents.
This performance focuses mainly on selections from Groban's multi-platinum CLOSER album, including powerful renditions of "Oceano," "Remember When It Rained," and "Never Let Go," among others. But LIVE AT THE GREEK also showcases his range and versatility, as in versions of Paul Simon's "America" and Don McLean's "Vincent (Starry, Starry Night)," as well as a surprising cover of Linkin Park's "My December." (The latter two songs are available on the DVD portion only). Groban contributes an exuberant drum solo to "Canto Alla Vita," and the fine violin work of Lucia Micarelli is featured on "Mi Mancherai (Il Postino)." Fans will enjoy the DVD extras, including a bonus performance of "Believe" (from the film THE POLAR EXPRESS) and a guest appearance by superstar banjoist Bela Fleck on "Alla Luce Del Sole."
This 2004 PBS Great Performances special, taped at L.A.s Greek Theater, will be broadcast during he holiday season. Bela Fleck appears as guest artist. DVD features include Dolby Stereo 2.0, Dolby 5.1 Surround, and DTS. The DVD also features behind the scenes footage. The set is available in jewel case or amaray packaging.
