Bonus features include performances by Robyn Hitchcock playing "It Is Obvious" and "Wish You Were Here" (and a 4-minute explanation by David Gilmour of how the song came to be written about Barrett); Graham Coxon from Blur playing "Love You;" a 10-minute exclusive interview with Roger Waters discussing Barrett (including the legendary last time he saw him); and a biography of Barrett. The late Syd Barrett was a cult figure and rock music legend. The charismatic and brilliant lead guitarist of early Pink Floyd, he created a unique psyichedelic sound and wrote wonderfully eccentric songs including the hits "Arnold Layne," "See Emily Play" and "Bike." Syd Barrett left Pink Floyd in 1968 when his increasingly erratic behavior made his continued participation in the band impossible. After two extraordinary solo albums, he disappeared from music altogether. 'The Pink Floyd and Syd Barrett Story' tell the full bizarre, tragic but also celebratory story of Syd Barrett with contributions from all the members of Pink Floyd plus friends, managers and lovers. Bonus features include Roger Waters on Syd Barrett, uncut interviews with Waters, David Gilmour, Nick Mason etc.

Former Pink Floyd frontman Syd Barrett garnered a cult following thanks to his incredible ear for a tune. Sadly, there was a downside to Syd's willful surrender to the 1960s' flourishing drug culture, including increasingly bizarre onstage behavior. He ultimately became a recluse who lived out his final years in modest surrounding in Cambridge, England, dying of diabetes at 60. This entry in the Up Close and Personal series examines Syd's life and career. Syd Barrett was one of the most enigmatic men in music. Through the formation of Pink Floyd, to creative genius, to his shocking slide into increasing psychiatric illness, we chart the rise and fall of the original Floyd frontman.
