| | Jumping Monks Green Apple Worms CD (2003)
$10.65 The Jumping Monks play for their love of music and entertainment. The Ernie Ball Company also set up a national online competition in which the Monks finished in the top ten out of 2600 bands from across the nation. This is a great testament to their broad and loyal fan base. In the past year, the Monks have quickly begun to make a name for themselves around Texas. The Monks first single, "Rock In The Revolution", can be heard on many Texas music programs across the state including, 99.5 KISS' Texas Traxx in San Antonio, 94.5 THE BUZZ's Texas Buzz in Houston, and 102.5 THE BEAR's Local Licks in Waco. Brothers Travis (bass, vocals) and Weston (drums, lead vocals) Ripps, and their long time friend Darren Ahr (guitar, vocals), also referred to as the "garage-funk trio", give claim to the high-energy funk-rock that is the Jumping Monks. On October 18, 2003, the Monks will see the independent release of their first full-length album, "Green Apple Worms", and will take their electrifying, off-the-wall, show around Texas to promote it. They have rocked clubs in San Antonio, Houston, Austin, San Marcos, Waco, and College Station, and have supported such acts as Bowling For Soup, Pushmonkey, Eyes Adrift, and Faceplant. The Jumping Monks hail from the western outskirts of San Antonio, Texas. There they supported many national acts including Glassjaw, The Ataris, Rancid, Less Than Jake, Simple Plan, Bowling For Soup, and AFI. Their uplifting, rhythm-driven music and relentless on-stage energy continues to grab the attention of audiences across the state. This past July the Monks were selected by the Ernie Ball Company to play on the Ernie Ball Stage at the San Antonio stop of the Vans Warped Tour. They take great pride in their live performances which incorporate high-energy, big sound, and their hardcore fans otherwise known as the Monk Pit The CD contains 14 tracks, 13 Jumping Monk originals and a cover of Dion's "Runaround Sue".
