Caught somewhere in between early 70's power pop and the current emo surge, Artist has captured emotion and turned it into electricity. "Artist" was created out of frustration with the current music scene. It is clear from the first percussive clang of the strings on their first track that everything is in service of the song. In the vein of Marvelous 3, Smashing Pumpkins, Weezer and Foo Fighters, "Artist" released their debut album, Belly of the Beast. The songs are hard-edged yet melodic. Artist capture AM gold melodies of the 70's, run them through Marshall amps and combine them with story-driven, contemporary lyrics. The band "Artist" is based out of a little burg 50 miles south of New Orleans called Houma, Louisiana.
