| | Lost In Translation CD (2006)
$8.55 Atlanta has spawned a number of bands that have reached the pinnacle of success. After an unfulfilling stint as a member of a girl group (Arista Records), Lead singer Chrys Senon decided the time was ripe for a more edifying musical career. Already a prolific lyricist, composer and pianist, Chrys developed a body of work which reflected her life experiences, intensely personal, and always wholly and ironically human. With the release of their EP, Lost In Translation, Senona has solidified their place as one of the hottest pop/rock bands both regionally and nationally. But it was a shared musical vocabulary that gave birth to their sound. It was fate that brought the band together. The two musicians had a musical rapport and jammed together regularly.Senona's EP, Lost in Translation, is a testament to each of the members' comfort and mastery of their medium. They knew they needed a band, and one that could support Chrys' lyrical chops and virtuosity on the piano. Lost in Translation has already received early critical acclaim and their single, "Where are you" has been heavily downloaded on Websites such as BurnLounge. In fact it was Justin who brought Brian to the first audition. While many pop/rock bands seem to deflect from raw emotions, Senona's lyrics are quite exposing and intimate. In December 2003 Chrys had approached friend and music manager Ian Burke, who had been following her career, for some direction. Each member of Senona had been classically or formally trained in music. Forget about what you think you know about pop/rock, Senona is about to throw the genre a curve ball. The members found a musical kinship in one another, with musical wits matching. As soon as the band plugged in their instruments and started playing the music, it was love at first track. Justin, (J. Starks) attended school at the Atlanta Institute of Music, where he met Brian Thomson (BT). You're too funky to be crying at a piano, " recalled Chrys. This serendipitous happenstance resulted in the band Senona. Their prayers were answered through a posting on MySpace. Senona's sound is a synergy of youthful energy underscored with true musical integrity. Hence the arrival of Senona. "I remembered what he told me, he said, "you're no Sarah McLachlan or Norah Jones. Today, it is mostly known as a rapper's paradise, but with the legacy of notable bands such as the Black Crowes, Indigo Girls, and R.E.M, the groundwork has been laid for something phenomenal to come along again. Drummer, Brian Weaver, was referred by producer, Jason Andrews. Guitarist Justin Starks and Bassist Brian Thomson showed up during the open audition.
