Upon the release on MySpace, the band quickly became one of the top 130 listened-to alternative bands in the world, achieving an average of over a thousand plays a day. Since first meeting at their suburban high school in Detroit, Mimes (known to their fans as as "Masturbating In Your Mother's Eye Sockets") busted down the doors of the rock scene in 2006 with their debut album, 13. Juxtaposing the band leader, Alex's appropriately unsettling anthems with early 90s grunge riffs, the band developed a sound and a fanbase.
