 Daevid Allen Biography
Australian singer/songwriter/guitarist Artist was an original member of Soft Machine in 1966, but he was essentially chased out of England for his radical political activism. In the late '60s, Allen formed psychedelic cult-fave band Gong with a batch of French and British musicians. Over the years, Gong's spacey sound became jazzier and more sophisticated, and after Allen left in the mid-'70s, they became a full-on jazz fusion band. Allen went on to a long, prolific solo career, but periodically worked with various reformations of Gong.
