Kim Scott CD discography An intriguing title like The Secret of Magnets might lead some to assume that Solid for Sixty's debut album contains abstract, quirky, eccentric art rock. But the only abstract thing about this CD is its title. The Secret of Magnets is actually an album of gritty, earthy roots rock, much of it with strong British Invasion leanings. Clearly, the British Invasion rock of the '60s and early '70s is a major influence on this Philadelphia band (although a few of the tracks are more Bob Dylan-ish, especially "Blue & Hazel"). The Rolling Stones are a prominent influence, and much of the material also brings to mind the Kinks and the Romantics (which, like Solid for Sixty, was an American band with a healthy enthusiasm for the British Invasion).
