||Front Row for the Donkey Show CD (2009)
Xristian Simon CD discography Out of all the glam/hair bands that infiltrated the rock world circa the late '80s, Faster Pussycat was certainly one of the sleaziest and loosest -- especially when it came to performing their three-chord anthems on the concert stage. But during the group's peak, they never got around to issuing a live album. However, when singer Taime Downe decided to put together a whole new Faster Pussycat lineup circa the early 21st century, the time had finally come for the group's first official live set, 2009's Front Row for the Donkey Show. Interestingly, although Faster Pussycat's 2006 studio comeback, The Power and the Glory Hole, was a decidedly electro/industrial-based affair, this live set reflects more of the group's earlier direction. And an obvious reason for this is the presence of quite a few vintage Pussycat ditties, including "Cathouse," "House of Pain," "Bathroom Wall," and "Babylon." That said, the group's latter-day style manages to rear its head on a cover of the Rolling Stones' "It's Only Rock N' Roll." Until a live recording from the vault emerges, Front Row for the Donkey Show will have to do. ~ Greg Prato
