Buffseeds albums Though their debut LP first saw the hazy light of the Devon day in March 2003, this EP is Buffseeds' first appearance on U.S. shores. It includes "Casino," the single that started it all for the band, as well as "Sparkle Me," "Strawberry," and two other tracks. Buffseeds realize their secret weapon is the otherworldly falsetto of fabulously named frontman Kieran Scragg. Their warm bed of acoustic and electric guitars, organ tones, and understated percussion embraces his every addictive warble. If the introductory strains of "Sparkle Me" are a lullaby, letting each instrument join gently into the groove, then the song's a singalong by the time Scragg gets to the chorus. "Fall on me/Watch TV/Pass me the phone/I need a conversation." The lyrics are at once mundane and magical -- a trick particular to English singers ("Look at the stars/Look how they shine for you").
