Jim Cifelli songs The funk/groove sound: It's done exceptionally well on Groove Station, where trumpeter Jim Cifelli tries on a groove suit for his latest release. And it proves itself a sleek fit for him. The focus is also on a tight group sound and a crisp dynamic. The solos stay ...

Jim Cifelli CD discography The Jim Cifelli New York Nonet: Jim Cifelli, Andy Gravish (trumpet, flugelhorn); Pete McGuiness (trombone); Cliff Lyons (alto & soprano saxophones); Joel Frahm (tenor saxophone); Barbara Cifelli (baritone saxophone, bass clarinet, flute); Pete McCann (guitar); Mary Ann McSweeney (acoustic & electric basses); Tim Horner (drums). What is most striking are the seemingly endless creative twists and turns that Cifelli is able to conjure while continuously exploring the depths of his ensemble. The result is a sonic painting that must be experienced over and over, each time uncovering more details than the last. Cifelli composed the majority of the works, including the blazing opener "Undercurrent," which showcases the band's tight interaction and many stellar soloists. Bassist Mary Ann McSweeney contributes the floating "Without Changes," a caressing piece that features ...

Jim Cifelli CD discography Peggy Herman was born in Philadelphia and was raised in Miami Beach, Florida.   A classically trained musician, she was the recipient of two scholarships in vocal study at Temple University in Philadelphia, where she performed with their opera company.   During her four-season affiliation with the Greater Miami Opera Guild, she performed with Joan Sutherland and Luciano Pavoratti.   She volunteered her services to Mr. Pavoratti as his personal driver in order to get a more in-depth look at his operatic world. Longing for closer contact with the audience, Peggy Herman joined the Middle of the Road Singers as the lead vocalist and traveled around the world, then found a home performing on five-star cruise ships on the Cunard and Royal Viking lines.   Her cruise ship performances led to her own cabaret act, opening for Phyllis Diller at Miami ...
